Truly Asia
One fascinating aspect of Malaysia is its multiculturalism, where diverse ethnic groups live harmoniously. What's unique is the Orang Asli, indigenous peoples who've inhabited the peninsula for millennia, preserving their traditional lifestyles amidst modernization. These tribes possess invaluable knowledge of the rainforest's medicinal plants and survival techniques. Their resilience and cultural heritage contribute significantly to Malaysia's rich tapestry of diversity and identity.
The Custard Apple
Malaysia is home to one of the world's rarest and most bizarre fruits: the "buah nona" or "custard apple." What makes it truly unique is its peculiar method of propagation. Unlike most fruits, the buah nona's seeds are dispersed by a species of rhinoceros beetle. These beetles bury the seeds underground where they germinate, showcasing a fascinating example of co-evolution between plants and insects in Malaysian ecosystems.
